PROJECT MANAGER – M&A INTEGRATIONS & INITIATIVES
The Project Manager – M&A Integrations & Initiatives will lead the seamless integration of newly acquired wealth management firms into The Mather Group (TMG), ensuring alignment across people, processes, and technology. This hands-on role also supports the execution of key strategic initiatives firmwide.
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, the Project Manager will oversee day-to-day integration efforts and drive cross-functional execution. The ideal candidate combines a track record of strong project leadership in the wealth management industry, and analytical insight, with a deep expertise in change management, process improvement, and enterprise technology. This high-impact role is critical to TMG’s continued growth and operational excellence.
SPECIFIC ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Lead the planning and execution of M&A integrations from due diligence through full integration, coordinating across all functional departments.
- Serve as the primary day-to-day point of contact for newly acquired firms during the integration process.
- Develop detailed project plans, timelines, and deliverables; track progress and manage interdependencies and risks.
- Ensure all integration milestones are achieved on time and aligned with strategic objectives set by the COO and executive leadership.
- Support execution of firmwide strategic initiatives, including technology implementations, process optimization, and organizational change projects.
- Define project scope, requirements, and success metrics; facilitate collaboration across departments and functional leads.
- Conduct stakeholder interviews and working sessions to understand business needs, uncover process gaps, and define operational requirements.
- Document business processes, identify improvement opportunities, and support development of scalable SOPs and playbooks.
- Provide consistent reporting, updates, and decision-support materials to the COO and senior leadership team.
- Drive accountability across teams, facilitate resolution of roadblocks, and ensure projects are completed on time and within scope.
- Help build and continuously improve the firm’s M&A integration framework, templates, and tools to support repeatable, scalable integration practices.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Operations, or related field; PMP strongly preferred.
- 8+ years of experience leading M&A integrations, tech implementations, and strategic initiatives.
- Proven success managing organizational change in complex, fast-paced environments.
- Prior PM experience in the wealth management or financial services industry strongly preferred.
- Deep knowledge of project management tools and methodologies; experience with Smartsheet or similar platforms is a plus.
- Consistent track record of delivering cross-functional projects on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with sharp attention to detail.
- Confident communicator with executive presence and the ability to influence across levels.
- Skilled at navigating competing priorities and driving alignment across functions.
- Self-starter with strong ownership mentality and accountability for outcomes.
- Excellent at building relationships, resolving conflict, and leading through ambiguity.
- Able to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.
- Clear and effective in written communication and executive-level reporting.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Visio).
ROLE INFORMATION
- Status: Full-Time (Hybrid)
- Location: Chicago, IL
- Salary Range: $155,000 - $160,000
